What I do.

I’m a London firefighter who reviews building plans for fire safety, and I design and build websites and data tools.

Operational firefighting

Over fifteen years on the run in London, attending structural fires, rescues, road traffic collisions and hazardous materials incidents. I hold Level 1 Incident Command (assessed to Sub Officer), emergency response driving (EFAD), Immediate Emergency Care, and I keep my operational skills current.

Fire safety

Building plan consultations: Reviewing architectural plans and fire strategies against Approved Document B (Volume 2) and BS 9999 within the Brigade’s Building Design and Consultation Hub (BDCH).

Premises auditing: Conducted fire safety audits across high-turnover commercial premises under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. I hold the SFJ Level 3 and Level 4 Certificates in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors).

Web design and development

I build websites and web applications from initial brief through to deployment, covering identity design, performance, and SEO. My primary stack includes React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js, alongside custom WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify implementations where clients manage their own content.

Data analysis

I collect, process, and visualise data using Python, R, and custom web scrapers. Current independent work includes investigating relationships between GCSE educational outcomes and local indices of multiple deprivation.

Project delivery

I run client projects from end to end. Successfully balancing technical freelance work alongside a frontline operational posting and a part-time BEng in Fire Engineering relies on clear scoping, realistic timelines, and consistent communication.
